Usability Test on Taylor Swift's Official Website

Project type

Usability Test

Date

April 2026

Location

Charleston, South Carolina

In creating this usability test, my process began with defining clear research goals centered on how users interact with Taylor Swift Official Website. I identified early on my three key areas to evaluate: purchasing merchandise, exploring music content, and navigating the site, and I selected these because the tasks represent the site’s primary functions. From there, I developed a structured testing script that guided participants through a consistent experience, beginning with icebreaker questions to establish familiarity and comfort, followed by observation and task-based activities. I also intentionally incorporated the “think aloud” method so I could better understand users’ decision-making processes in real time.

Once that was all through, I moved into prototyping the test itself by organizing tasks in a logical progression, from the first impressions to specific actions, and finally to open the floor to exploration. This structure allowed me to observe both guided interactions and more natural browsing behaviors with both of my participants–my roommate and my class peer. I conducted two moderated usability sessions, carefully timing each task and recording participant responses. This step required adaptability, as I needed to facilitate the session while also observing patterns and noting moments of confusion or success.

In the analysis and design phase, I synthesized my findings into a clear, visually structured presentation. I grouped insights into strengths and “points to consider,” which helped highlight patterns across both participants and gave me room for more elaboration should the need arise. I also framed my evaluation around other principles of usability, such as visual design versus functionality, e-commerce flow, content discovery, and navigation. This allowed me to move beyond simplistic, isolated observations and make more meaningful, actionable recommendations–such as improving homepage navigation and adding more descriptive content.

This project reveals several key aspects of my design skills and experience. First, it demonstrates my ability to apply user-centered design principles by focusing on real user experiences rather than assumptions. Second, it reflects my strength in organizing complex information into clear, digestible formats, both in the testing script and in the final presentation. Finally, this project showcases my growing experience with UX research methods, particularly usability testing, task design, and overall qualitative analysis. Thus, I am confident in my ability to evaluate digital interfaces critically, while communicating insights in a way that is structurally professional and actionable.
